In his 2007-08 Policy Address, the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, proposes to develop HK as an international arbitration centre in the Asia-Pacific region which could resolve international commercial disputes. In response to the community concerns about the development of international arbitration services in HK, by carrying out in-depth interviews and comparative analysis, our Centre has explored the development potential of HK arbitration services, referred to the overseas experiences of developing arbitration services, analyzed the comparative advantages – the problems and the challenges of developing arbitration in HK, and put forward relevant policy recommendations. The study report was published in a press conference held on September 29, 2008. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of our Institute, Mr Leung Chun-ying, officiate at the press conference.
